Old Stone combines the soothing texture and richness of a historic inn with the sophistication of a modern boutique style stay. The Old Stone Inn is a treasure; from the moment you step inside its dark and elegant lobby, the heavy stone and rich woods transport you to a more tasteful Niagara Falls. St. Denis Popular with Quartier Latin-based tourists, the standard yet spacious rooms here are attractive with Ikea-style furniture, comfy beds and air-con. With St Denis's sidewalk cafes and specialty boutiques literally at your front door, the position of this place reigns supreme, which explains its popularity.
Anne ma Soeur Ann A real treat, these smart, fully equipped studios fill a valuable niche in the Plateau. They are suitable for short or longer stays, each unit having a 'microkitchen' with a microwave and stove, work space and Ikea-style furnishings built into the walls. Four of the 17 studios have private terraces, some overlooking the shady backyard. US $ 66.32 for double rooms.

Two-level loft suites have designer kitchenettes, and the 2,500-square-foot Algonquin Suite affords three different skyline views. The Stillwater Spa is one of the city's finest.

Four Seasons  + 800/332-3442 or 416/964-0411 This thirty-two-story tower in the fashionable Yorkville neighborhood has excellent luxurious rooms, and a particular mention goes to Superior Queen rooms with a walk-out balcony overlooking the city.

Windsor Arms Service is the motto here, with a staff-to-guest ratio of 1:6 and 24-hour butler service. FairmontRoyal York The guest rooms are furnished with charming antiques reproductions. Some are reasonably airy, but there's generally not much spare space.
